Vuzenica

Vuzenica, the seat of the municipality, is a central settlement idyllically situated on the right bank of the Drava. It is distinguished by its reputation as one of the oldest places in the Drava Valley. In the past, rafters floated “flose” here, while carriers busily transported goods along the Drava. Numerous fairs also added to the town’s lively atmosphere. 

The remnants of the old castle and the parish church of St. Nicholas still testify to its former glory. The church was once home to Anton Martin Slomšek, a gentle poet and national awakener. Autumn walks in the nearby Dravče, St. Primož on Pohorje, St. Vid, and Šentjanž above Dravče are especially delightful.

In Vuzenica you can rent an e-bike and ride it around the nearby and distant surroundings. The large sports park provides exceptional training opportunities. It is also possible to spend the night in the town centre. There is also a restaurant with excellent food nearby. 

Vuzenica is also well worth exploring by bike or on foot, as the experience of nature becomes even greater. The many ascents are always rewarded with magnificent views.
