Vuzenica
Vuzenica, the seat of the municipality, is a central settlement idyllically situated on the right bank of the Drava. It is distinguished by its reputation as one of the oldest places in the Drava Valley. In the past, rafters floated “flose” here, while carriers busily transported goods along the Drava. Numerous fairs also added to the town’s lively atmosphere.
The remnants of the old castle and the parish church of St. Nicholas still testify to its former glory. The church was once home to Anton Martin Slomšek, a gentle poet and national awakener. Autumn walks in the nearby Dravče, St. Primož on Pohorje, St. Vid, and Šentjanž above Dravče are especially delightful.
The landscape, offering countless opportunities for recreation in unspoilt nature, forest fruits, and homemade delicacies, is interwoven with numerous hiking trails. Vuzenica
