Hiking is an inseparable part of the culture of the
Slovenian nation. It is thus not surprising that there are more than 9000 kilometres of well-maintained hiking trails in Slovenia, taken care of by hard-working trail-marking
volunteers who are members of numerous hiking clubs.
There are almost 600 kilometres of well-maintained
and marked hiking trails in Koroška. The hiking trails network provides you
with all hiking trails around Slovenia, from which you can easily find the

Mountain Lodges in Koroška

themed hiking trails nature can be experienced with all of our senses, escaping
from the urban bustle into the tranquil forests and secluded farms of Koroška.
Take part in popular hiking tour “Čez goro k očetu”, organized every year by the
mountaineering society from Ravne na Koroškem; almost 1000 hikers take part in
it. “Čez goro k očetu” is a short story written by
an important Slovene literary figure, Lovro Kuhar (aka Prežihov Voranc). On Christmas Eve
in 1932, his wife and daughters did a similar 14-hour hike in the snow in order
to meet their husband and father. However, they did not meet him, because he
had just been arrested.
The Mt. Peca Mountain Lodge is situated just
beneath the summit of Mt. Mala Peca, on its eastern side.

The Mt. Smrekovec Mountain Lodge is situated at the
edge of the Roma Plateau on the southern slope of Mt. Smrekovec.
The Uršlja Gora Mountain Lodge is situated just
beneath the summit of the Uršlja Gora Mountain, also called Mt. Plešivec (1,699
m), next to St. Ursula's Church built in 1602.
The Grmovšek Mountain Lodge, beneath Mt. Velika Kopa,
is situated on the westernmost and the highest part of the Pohorje Hills,
connecting the Mislinja and the Drava valleys.
The Grohot Plateau Mountain Lodge is situated on
the northern side of Mt. Raduha.
The mountain lodge beneath Kremžar Peak is situated
on the south-western side of Kremžar Peak (1,164 m). It is the westernmost
mountain lodge of the Pohorje Hills.
The Naravske Ledine Mountain Lodge is situated on a
clearing on the western side of the Uršlja Gora Mountain. A road from Ravne na
Koroškem runs past the mountain lodge, leading to the Križan homestead, Slovenj
Gradec, and to the top of the Uršlja Gora Mountain.
The Pik Homestead Mountain Lodge is situated on a
lookout hill next to St. Helen's Church, in a hilly area between Mt. Peca and
the River Meža.

The Planinc Mountain Lodge is situated on the
south-eastern part of the Pohorje Hills, 1,010 metres above sea level, in the
immediate vicinity of the former Kaštivnik draglift.
The Partizanski Dom Kope Mountain Lodge is situated
at the foot of Mt. Mala Kopa, in the immediate vicinity of the ski resort. The
Kaštivnik four-person chairlift is only 80 metres away.

The Mt. Košenjak Mountain Lodge is situated on the
plateau on the southern side of Mt. Košenjak, which is the southernmost spur of
the Koralpe Mountain Range (also called the Golica Mountain Range).
The Kumer Homestead Mountain Lodge in situated at
the Kumer Homestead in Koprivna at 1,220 metres above sea level.
The Pesnik Mountain Lodge is situated in a small
settlement on a grass plateau on the Ribnica Pohorje Hills.

The Poštarski Dom Mountain Lodge is situated in
Sele, on a sunny clearing at the edge of the forest beneath Ravnjak Peak, on
the eastern side of the Uršlja Gora Mountain, otherwise called Mt. Plešivec.
The Ribnica na Pohorju Mountain Lodge is situated
on a small plateau just beneath Mt. Mali Črni Vrh (1,533 m) on the main ridge
of the Pohorje Hills.
The Smučarska Koča Mountain Lodge is situated on
the northern side of the Uršlja Gora Mountain at 765 metres above sea level. 4
kilometres of a well-maintained asphalt road lead to the mountain lodge from
the direction of Ravne na Koroškem, Prevalje, and Kotlje.
