Several hundred years of mining tradition in Črna
na Koroškem and its surroundings influenced the town's image and its way of
life. The story of extraction lead ore is preserved as moveable cultural
heritage displayed in a rock in the town square.
Some mining machines and equipment that supplement
the story of extracting this precious ore are displayed in front of the old mineshaft.
More than 19 million tons of ore were excavated in the 64 km2 ore deposit in
the upper part of the Meža Valley in over 330 years, and more than 800
kilometres of tunnels were constructed.
