THE FORESTRY AND WOODWORKING COLLECTION IN RAVNE NA KOROŠKEM

The region between Mt. Peca and the Pohorje Hills is rich with forests, and wood was used for construction, as well as for making tools, furniture, and shoes in the past. It was also used for heating residential and industrial buildings, with ironworks and mines being big consumers of wood in the 18th and 19th century.

The collection displays objects and tools used for working in forests, as well as for woodworking. Among other items in the collection, the most notable ones are the 300-year old larch-tree trunk from Koprivna, the 200-year old maple-tree growth rings from Primož na Pohorju, a brown bear taxidermy, as well as the models of a Venetian saw and the Mislinja railway line.
