The Muta municipality lies in a natural cradle between the
Pohorje, the Drava and the Kobansko. The principal town, Muta, was marked with
forges and ironworks over the past. The Muta museum has been faithfully
preserving this long-continued trade. Among the numerous cultural monuments the
Kienhofen manor, today's museum's premises, should be mentioned as well as the
round succursal church of St. John the Baptist (sv. Janeza Krstnika). Gortina,
Pernice, Sveti Primož and Sveti Jernej above Muta are the neighboring towns and
villages which offer peaceful and pleasant walks in all seasons.
