Just as miners once went off to their “shift”, today you can ride a real mining train into the underground of Peca and explore its hidden world. On the Drava, you can learn about the rafters’ traditions and the transport of timber down the river. The hard work of ironworkers and steel processing is portrayed through artworks known as Forma viva, which are unique on a global scale in their scope. Many traditional crafts enriched the development of towns. The oldest among them is Slovenj Gradec, which received town rights more than 750 years ago. At the Koroška Gallery of Fine Arts and the Koroška Regional Museum, you will discover further secrets and achievements of these places. Alongside the urban heritage, there are still-living rural traditions that authentically depict farm life and a close connection with nature.
