Cultural heritage of Slovenj Gradec Taking a walk through this typical medieval town, which gained its town rights more than 750 years ago, will charm you with its rich past and romantic atmosphere. Slovenj Gradec has always been an important cultural centre. The town and its incredibly preserved original architectural design represent an important urban monument. One of the most magnificent buildings in the town, the former town hall, houses the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Koroška (KGLU), which holds artwork from important authors of different art movements. You can learn about the life and work of the Master of Solos in the composer Hugo Wolf memorial museum. Past comes to life in the Koroška Regional Museum Many collections are dispersed throughout the Koroška region, from products of the local trade and industry to sacral monuments, which all tell a tale of the rich regional history. Besides the central location in Slovenj Gradec, you can find collections and exhibitions from the past in the museums in Dravograd, Radlje and Ravne na Koroškem as well as other municipalities in Koroška. The Church of St. George in Legen features a glass floor, where you can observe the remains of Old Slavic burial grounds. The tradition of transporting wooden logs on the Drava River is presented in the timber rafting museum, while the tradition of ironworks and knap dwelling is presented in the ironworks and mining museum.
