The best way to experience the Koroška landscape is on foot. The tours, designed for one day or more, offer an abundance of choice. The Koroška Mountain Trail with its 230 kilometres is a challenge to the more demanding hikers, as is the international E6 European Pathway. Indulge in the natural beauty, the rich flora and the unforgettable views. Koroška will surprise you with each step you take. While hiking, exchange some words with fellow hikers and enjoy homemade stews and other authentic local cuisine in the mountain cabins.

The first part of the Slovenian Mountain Trail leads across the vast area of Pohorje to the Koroška solitary mountain Uršlja Gora, and then continues towards the Savinja Alps. This is a hike through many kilometres of unspoiled nature with the eminent natural and cultural sights greeting your passage. You can walk the path in several stages according to your abilities.

First you are introduced to the mysterious Pohorje primary forest. When the summer heat hits the valley, you can cool off beside the fairy-tale-like small lakes with peat-bogs and visit the numerous little churches. You will also hear countless tales, myths and anecdotes, which will sound even more mysterious in the authentic dialect of the region.

In addition, the Slovenian Mountain Trail is the oldest and the most diverse connective mountain trail in the country – it takes you all the way from Maribor to the Slovenian coast (500 kilometres).
