Tradition of crafting

Wood processing, smithery and other local arts and crafts have been mastered by awakening tradition and ancestral legacies.

Unique items were made by the skillful hands of the local people. Processing of wood, iron and other materials resulted in the development of crafts and arts. Farm tools that facilitated everyday farm chores were made and repaired at numerous blacksmith’s workshops in villages. Today, this tradition is presented at Pri kovaču in Podvelka. Painters and carvers decorated the chapels along paths and isolated Koroška farms. A treasure trove of folk motifs is also depicted on beehive panels which decorated each and every bee house in Koroška. In Slovenj Gradec, you must visit the Perger House where they offer the best honey and honeycombs products made from carefully selected organic ingredients that will embellish your home since 1757.
