Muta
Muta is the cradle of centuries-old traditions of blacksmithing and ironworking, with a museum dedicated to this heritage. It is located inside the renovated Keinhofen Manor, which also serves as the municipal building. The town lies on the northern side of the Drava River and extends into the Kobansko area, where you will find excellent walking destinations such as St. Primož and St. Jernej above Muta.
In the municipality, you can also find the Koroški Splavarji (Koroška Rafters), who preserve the tradition of timber floating and trading along the Drava River. You can join them on a rafting adventure (splavarska rajža) to experience firsthand all the skills and knowledge needed to become a Flosar. Even a snack on the raft is included.
The Rotunda of St. John the Baptist has stood here since at least 1052, when it was consecrated by Pope Leo IX on his journey through the land. Its unique shape, traditional shingled roof, and mix of architectural styles draw the attention of many passersby.
In Spodnja Muta, in addition to the recreation centre, there is also a panoramic platform popular with Drava Bike cyclists. A short walk along the Bistrica stream will take you to charming little cascades.
