Climbing center Prevalje
With the new climbing center in Prevalje, Koroška has gained a modern facility that offers excellent training conditions for both locals and visitors from Slovenia and abroad. It features tall climbing walls up to 18 meters high, covering an area of 1,800 m², located inside the hall and on the building’s northern outdoor side. There is also a grandstand and a spectator area for those who will watch competitions held here.
In addition, there are 400 m² of bouldering walls, as well as specialized training systems. The "Džungla" climbing hall is intended for training the youngest climbers and for climbing birthday parties, while a separate space includes a rehabilitation wall. A multifunctional hall on the second floor serves for lectures and functional training sessions. Next to the reception with a visitor-friendly bar, there is also a playroom for children. On the rooftop terrace, an astronomical observatory is located.
In terms of the quality of climbing surfaces, holds, auto-belay devices, specialized training systems, route setting, and areas dedicated to children, the Climbing Center in Prevalje is the most advanced in Slovenia. It is designed to offer climbing opportunities to the widest possible range of users—from the youngest to the elderly, from recreational climbers to professionals—regardless of their predispositions or abilities. A direct connection to the elementary school on the first floor, which also includes a climbing area for children, places this climbing center among the few in the world that can offer such integration, ensuring an exceptionally positive movement and sports experience for children.
The Climbing Center is equipped with more than 10,000 holds from twenty-two world-renowned brands, five of which have been selected for route setting at the Olympic Games in Paris.
All materials used in the climbing infrastructure at the Prevalje Center are of the highest quality, developed with state-of-the-art technologies and adapted to the highest standards.
This is the first climbing center in Slovenia—and the very first in the world—to feature a rehabilitation climbing wall with adjustable inclination and integrated multifunctional training systems for all levels of climbing. The training system can also be used independently of the wall itself. The entire device was developed in collaboration with the brand 360holds and the rehabilitation center Rehabo from Divača, where Olympic champion Janja Garnbret also trains.
The Prevalje Climbing Center is the first in Slovenia to offer, in addition to the standard speed climbing wall, a specially adapted children’s speed climbing wall.
The speed climbing wall is only the second indoor wall of its kind in Slovenia that fully meets international standards, providing year-round training opportunities for athletes of this Olympic discipline.
It is also the only climbing center in Slovenia featuring a symmetrical “train to climb” wall designed for coordination and dynamic movement training, suitable for both children and adults.
The unique children’s climbing area Džungla and the playroom are seamlessly integrated with the climbing walls, offering children a special experience and unlimited opportunities for play and training.
Five auto-belay devices with top-rope belay allow climbing even for those without a partner, making the facility accessible to a wide range of visitors. Additionally, it hosts the first device in Slovenia and one of the first in the world that provides automatic bottom-rope belaying. The auto-belay system meets the strictest safety standards, combining electronic and mechanical belaying for an excellent and secure climbing experience.
Prevalje is also the first climbing center in Slovenia with an outdoor recreational wall featuring a via ferrata route, allowing practice and preparation for climbing protected alpine routes.
The outdoor climbing wall meets the requirements for competitions of the highest level.
