KOROŠKO ŠALEŠKI JAMARSKI KLUB "SPELEOS-SIGA" VELENJE Črnova 52a (p.p. 138), 3320 Velenje

Discover this subterranean gem of the isolated Karst, which is undoubtedly one of the largest natural sights of the Koroška and Šaleška regions. Huda Luknja is one of the oldest tourist caves in Slovenia and has been open for visitors since 1895. With its dimension and location next to the Velenje–Slovenj Gradec regional road, it sparks curiosity and always seems to surprise both the visitors and the researchers, since it hides a number of sights inside and in the surroundings. Up to this day, more than 2,900 metres of the cave have been researched, however experts believe there is a much larger cave system to be explored. The underground surface where you can walk and crawl is about 1,600 metres long.

The karst underground is an increasingly popular form of actively spending leisure time. Experience the unforgettable subterranean adventure! Professional and skilled speleologists will take you into the depths of the cave where you will spend four hours rather differently. First, you will head out through Lisičnica, which is one of the access points into the Huda Luknja cave. After a few defiles and two siphons, you will have to crawl, relatively dry, to the ‘bear tunnel’ (Medvedji Rov), which is in this part buried under deposits of gravel and clay, and where you can also spot some bones of cave bears.

Then you will take a walk around the large hall of the Medvedji Rov tunnel with magnificent dripstone structures, from cave curtains, stalagmites, stalactites, pans and really thin pipes. If you are lucky, you might even meet one of the bats living in the cave. The path is cut off at the end of the tunnel with a 30-metre abyss, meaning you will have to turn back and follow the same path again, enjoying the cave beauty once more.

What do you need? You will receive all the needed equipment before entering the cave. All visitors must be in good physical condition and wear warm clothes.

Those who have already experienced the cave, claim it is very hard to describe their feelings, which were also felt by the first researchers of this karst beauty. Let us preserve it for our offspring.

Mountain bike - trails

The labyrinth of forest roads and cart tracks leads you up and down the mountain, into the valleys and between them. Among the forests and meadows with their wonderful views there are regulated paths intended for extreme or more recreational cycling. They are best tackled with “all-mountain” or “enduro” bikes.

Drava cycling route

Drava cycling route

Drava Cycling Route is considered as one of the most beautiful cycling routes in Europe due to its natural splendours and cultural diversity. The 510-km route stretches from the source of the Drava River in Toblach, Italy, crosses Austria to Slovenia and runs further on to Croatia where it terminates at the confluence of the Mura and Drava Rivers next to Legrad. A section of 145 km runs through Slovenia, mostly down less busy local roads and regulated cycling routes. The Slovenian part of...
